I wouldn't be surprised in the least. Both Sydney and Melbourne have already sold its quality of living for 'quantity' crap like that.
Extreme living is on its way into this country!!
That's Hong Kong:

Considering so many Chinese live in Sydney now, they're the biggest ethnic group - watch these 'bird-cage' slums appear.

We going to be like Hong Kong to have enough housing.

Labor wants it.

The old Australia is gone.
A house and a backyard are distant memories of yesteryear for 90% of the future population.
Also - the jobs are not in the suburbs with backyards.

All gone. Lost in time like an aborigine.

ALP now sucks up to the elite and rich.

Digital ID bill and no cash.

We had a storm in Melbourne on Feb 13th 2024.
After the storm, half a million electricity customers lost power in Melbourne.

The electricity went out and even when the petrol stations used
petrol generators to supply electricity to make the pumps work -
they couldn't sell the petrol as peoples cards wouldn't work
as all the internet and mobile phone systems went down too.
Even 000 calls were lost.

The Labor Govt. is setting us up for a massive and dangerous failure.
They are so stupid and short sighted that the Governor General
should sack the lot of them and put in paid administrators.

They know its highly flawed.
They know it won't work.
They know its not the answer.
They know they've just gotta look like they're doing something to justify their pays.

And what if there's a Carrington event? -
the internet, phones, banking, electricity would be down for months.
No one will have any cash.

Of course, this is why it is flawed, it won't work, is not the answer.
Such a luxury to have, but so fragile in its reliability to be depended upon 100%.
Just a storm, an earthquake, a wild fire - many natural occurrences can render it 'useless'.

...but those who pass the buck to pass it through and get it up and running don't care for such things.
It creates jobs, markets, industry and 'change'. It creates more opportunity for many to get richer, by exploiting the poorer - the Capitalist Way.

You know this will not go far. The Convicts sent here by the British, will not tolerate the 'imprisonment' of this system knowing your every facet of your life and having 'control' over it because of it.

We found out during that storm on Feb 13th.
It was scary - I thought my electricity would be off for 3 days -
that's what an SMS told me.
It only went out for 7 hours - thank goodness.
The phone towers only lasted one hour where I am -
using their batteries - after that - no communications.

I had a small battery box with which I ran a bedside lamp and a little radio and
a charger for my mobile phone.
Some people lost power for over 2 weeks and it was really only a minor 20 minute storm -
the wind went to about 100km/hr gusts for only a few seconds.
If we had a big storm it would have been much worse.

At least I had gas for cooking and hot water for showers.
I made a cup of tea using the gas stove to boil the water.
I also cooked some 2 minute noodles.

Imagine what a World War with nukes would be like then?
Australia's inability to attain the resources it needs currently at the same level.
Various utilities bombed and destroyed.

I would say that World War 3 will bring billions of people 'back in time'.
