The Military rewards the bullies. In short order, they can get themselves declared 'Leader', regardless of their real capabilities. It replaces 'intelligence'. In fact, it gets lost in the new-speak environment, and thinks the social chatter is the truth, the way and the light. Its a case of the rear propping up the front.

A General problem in Australia anyway, and a Major contributor to strife on our streets.

It all keeps the Boomers self-gratified and comfortable. One only need acknowledge the superiority of a Boomer, to get ones reprieve. after which one relegates oneself to perpetual boomer Command, for the rest of ones days.

In time, this will play out in the demographics, as we already see.

Or the unemployed can get off their butts and Auntie Australia's tit and go look for a job, anyhwere, Maccas say, learn job skills like showing up on time (not drunk and naked) and then get a good reference after time and move up or on to better things.

There is no free lunch. Though you can get one at Maccas for just over a dollar.

We may not have a choice but to legislate this new policy quickly. Rudd is bringing in 350,000 migrants this year - many of them unskilled, but brawny - Pacific Islanders. Now that Rudd has publicly declared that America will not protect us - we have to protect ourselves. Many of these beefy Islanders should make good recruits to the army - they make great footballers. The figures for the young unemployed are very high - 24% and that excludes those studying or in training schemes.

We have to pull our weight in preparing to defend this country now. We've had it easy over the past 40 years and far better to train our idle young up now than have them conscripted at a later date when they haven't any military skills.

Great idea! It's about time somebody in Australian politics thought out a half reasonable policy to deal with youth unemployment. The only problem with this idea is that these bootcamps are only styled after the military and don't necessarily include entry into the defence force. Enlistment in any of the armed forces often leads to the expert trade qualifications that Australia so desperately needs. To advance on a theme; Why does the Australian government not make a suitable portion of the budget available for funding for the research, development and manufacturing of Australian designed defence material? At present we purchase assault rifles from Austria, light machine guns from Belgium, warship designs and components from Germany, Spain, America and Sweden, battlefield armour and aircraft from America and uniforms from China. The presence of an Australian arms industry would have the combined effects of stimulating the internal economy and addressing the unemployment issues we currently face. Such an industry would also create a brosd training base to address the skills shortage our politicians over the last five or so decades have strived so hard to create.

I think only about 3500 Pacific Islanders are coming for seasonal work like fruit picking, then they go back to the islands. Not 350,000--that is more than the combined immigration intake for a year!
