Tuesday’s edition of PBS NewsHour featured a discussion about “the differences in the experiences of black journalists as contrasted with their colleagues.” One of the guests, Los Angeles Times Executive Editor Norman Pearlstine, talked about how “one of the active debates we had over the past week was about the use of the word ‘looting’ to describe the destruction of the property” that has taken place at several riots that have occurred in the wake of the death of George Floyd. Pearlstine went on to talk about how the seemingly innocent term is actually profoundly racist.

According to Pearlstine, “the feeling among the black journalists at The Los Angeles Times, who frankly educated the rest of us that 'looting' had a pejorative, racist connotation, and that comparing it to the kind of behavior of the police and the kind of behavior that we witnessed really was a false equivalency and yet it was one that we were making as journalists if you picked...up a copy of our paper.”

Anyone in Australia who knows anything about AFL will probably have heard of Sam Newman...
Newman played 300 games for Geelong between 1964 and 1980 and was captain of the team and won two Club best and fairest
awards...
He was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 2002..
He has held various media positions over the years...
More recently he has become well known for his controversial views.....
Some view him as being deliberately controversial...
Im not praising him...simply introducing him.....
Yesterday, he berated AFL teams for taking the knee before matches suggesting that sport has nothing
to do with politics, even though the AFL has had a firm stand against racism for many years....
Newmans view is that the players are being intimidated into kneeling/nodding in agreement..
He wrote on twitter...
"Division, conflict, fury, rage, angst, anarchy, disruption, group guilt, group shaming, acquiescence.
“Don’t include EVERYONE in the mob mentality, please. AFL is sport!!

Love him or hate him...he has a point....
The question I ask is this....
How long will it be before spectators...now that our illustrious government is allowing the
peasants to return to watch matches.....
WILL be compelled by the AFL to take a knee in unity before each match commences....
WILL everyone do it.....
HOW divisive will this be if it occurs....
If I was at a match I would not take the knee if directed to do so...

Well its pissing down here...so what can I whinge about.....I know....
In the US the unemployment numbers have reached 38 million...
From what Ive just read that's double....that's right double the amount
of new jobs created in the US in the last 10 years.....
That could be interpreted this way.....
IF the US created 19 million new jobs each decade for the last two decades....
This means that they are are now all gone......20 years of new jobs.....gone...
How do you recover from that......bit hard....
AND now we have the protests....
By way of comparison....how is Australia going....well...depends on who you
want to believe...…
A mate of mine worked ten years ago in a motor bike dealership....
They regularly sold about 110-115 new and used bikes per month....
Their record (ten years ago) was 123 for a month....never been bettered before...or since....
UNTIL last month....
For May, the very same dealership sold 157 bikes....157 bikes.....
WHY...
Well, even though the peasants are all now on JobKeeper or JobSeeker, and
everyone is on the bones of their arse….they can access their superannuation....
AND what do the muppets do...…
They go out and buy a motor bike.....
Im thoroughly convince that a percentage of Australians have no brains....
AND they can access another ten grand on the 1st of July....
Aaah well....Jimmy crack corn....and I don't care......

Cant the people involved in a jury trial just wear a mask, unless asking or answering a question/giving evidence....

but you cant sit there....."...similar to public transport.....
What happens when the jury retires to consider its verdict...will facilities be renovated to ensure
social distancing...will the sequestered jury facilities be disinfected every five minutes as the jury
considers its verdict for say....a week......the provision of jury meals will be a circus......
