China Places Tariffs on Barley and Meat

Post by Black Orchid » Wed May 13, 2020 10:19 am

First barley and now meat. China is throwing their weight around and hoping to crush us like the bugs they think we are. Or was that chewing gum stuck to their shoes?

ScoMo is 'disappointed' and is saying he doesn't think this is retribution for Australia wanting an investigation into the origins and handling of the COVID-19 outbreak.

An 80% tariff? Well helloooo ScoMo!

The whole world wants an investigation. Do not fold to them!!!

It may take a little time until everything settles down but I am sure we can find other markets for our exports. Many many countries will be doing the same thing and we need to work together.

I agree....Scumo is just making a feeble, veiled attempt at being diplomatic...
We once had Abbot wanting to "shirtfront" Putin.....seriously.....these muppets
are our leaders...and everything Turnbull touched turned to shit...Rudd...Gillard...Keating....Howard....the list is endless..........they couldn't lead themselves out of a shithouse...….
The question is this.....
How long will it take our political grubs to find and establish new markets for those
exports which will now have the tariffs added...
A month..no...try six months...maybe twelve....
Is our Trade minister suddenly going to jump on a plane to Brazil to try to enter
into an agreement to export beef or barley into the joint.....
The planes are grounded...…
What a mess.....
To discover those who rule over you, first discover those who you cannot criticize...Voltaire
Its coming...the rest of the world versus islam....or is it here already...

It is a mess and we might have to suffer more hardship until the dust settles but many countries will be looking for new import/export trade partners, other than China, when the dust does settle and we need to hold out.

Bending the knee to China is the worst possible thing we could do.

I actually would like us to do more import/export with India at least they are a democracy and seem largely civilised!

I'm sure there will be opportunities with the UK as well.

I've seen people say it's racist to 'turn our back on China'. These people should be put back into their eggs because they are scrambled.

When China behaves like an open democracy I will say well done!

In the mean time they behave like a secretive bully so FVCK China.

Not to mention them trying to push their military influence out into the South China sea area of the world into disputed waters with much smaller countries. Even building military bases on rocky atolls .

etc etc etc !

Maybe the barley anti dumping ban is not as bad as was first thought. Perhaps we should put a tariff on imported Chinese teddy bears etc.
