Political Animal Australia

February 1 2009 marks the unofficial launch of what’s planned to be Australia’s premier political web portal.

Since the beginning of January 2009 the website www.polanimal.com has been under construction and is now near final completion.  We are open for business though there are still workmen about.

There is no time to waste and we will be running through February continuing our testing in a live environment and on March 1 will officially launch with an unobtrusive ribbon cutting ceremony in the back room of Political Animal Australia HQ.

We are proudly Australian to our core.  The owner is Australian, the website is managed in Australia and it is hosted on Australian servers.

We will be lobbying for political change, one step at a time.

Today we turned the political engine over and it coughed to life with an open letter to the Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon Kevin Rudd MP.

Dear Prime Minister

Re:Australia

On 24 November 2007 you were elected to the position of Prime Minister of Australia.  You were elected to that position by popular vote, with the majority of the people who voted on that day believing you could do a better job of governing our fine nation than your predecessor John Howard.  I doubt they would elect a new Prime Minister to do a worse job.  Since November 2007 Australia has not become a better, fairer, more prosperous, better educated or healthier nation with more opportunities, a greater number of visitors and a better place to do business.

Far from it in fact.

To the casual observer it would seem that living in Australia is quite a bit worse than a year or so ago.  Joblessness is rising, the value of our household assets has plummeted, the stock market indicates corporate worth has halved, hospital waiting lists have lengthened and patients have been turned away, universities are shedding academic staff, tourists are not touring in such large numbers as before, international business has chosen to go elsewhere, many national businesses have closed their gates and a lot of ordinary Australians are living with greater economic stress than they have for many years.

Do you believe, Mr Prime Minister, in all honesty, you have done a good job since taking over the role from your predecessor?

I am a concerned Australian citizen.  There are exactly 100 weeks until the end of 2010 by which time we should have had an election to determine who the Prime Minister of Australia will be for the next three years.

I plan on writing a letter each week.  I look forward to seeing your responses.

Regards
