Taxable Income $ ------------------Rate %

0 – 25,000-------------------------------- 0
25,001 – 180,000-------------------------35
180,001 + ---------------------------------45

I think it is silly to have it stepped like that. The tax curve should be based on only two points. For example:

Income.........marginal tax rate
<$20000........0%
$20000........10%
>=$100000......45%
between $20k and $100k it increases linearly from 10% to 45%.

This automatically spreads any change over the entire spectrum.

You seem to have completely missed the point yet again IQ. I was not suggesting that the marginal rate actually be 45%.
