Barnaby Joice quits to One Nation?

Post by tllwd » Sun Oct 19, 2025 6:47 pm

Former Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce has confirmed he won’t stand again for the party at the next election but left the door open to a switch to One Nation.
...
It comes amid speculation Joyce was in advanced talks to defect to One Nation as the splintering of the Coalition over climate change continues.
...
Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party refused to rule out the recruitment drive on Friday night, with Senator Hanson telling the Nine newspapers, “If Barnaby wants to come to One Nation, I’d be happy to have him.”

Personally, I don't like Pauline Hanson. I like a lot of what she stands for but I don't think One Nation will ever be truly viable until she's not the face of it. She's just not appealing and will never be PM.

I'd like to see all the conservatives who've been sacked and/or are defecting band together and launch a new party that the majority of Aussies can/will relate to. It's time!

I agree about Pauline but creating another conservative party will only split conservative vote though the preference system may help in that case.

True, although I dont like the preference system either. You have to spend hours and hours seeking out where preferences are going and often it's impossible and other times they don't go where you expect they might.
