ALP Lies About The Housing Crisis and Immigration

Post by Black Orchid » Tue Aug 04, 2026 8:47 am

Australia's housing crisis is not an accident of economics.

It is the predictable consequence of deliberate policy.

Over the past generation, governments have dramatically increased housing demand, steadily made new housing harder to build, and transformed residential property into one of the country's most attractive investment assets.

Housing ultimately comes down to three forces.

Demand. Supply. Money.

Australia has managed to get all three wrong.

The astronomical rise in the cost of home ownership has become one of the most visible consequences of Australia's immigration policy, alongside mounting pressure on infrastructure, public services and countless other explicit and implicit impacts.

Housing is where the arithmetic leaves the Treasury papers and arrives at the kitchen table.

...........

It determines where people can live, when they start families, and whether the Australian dream remains within reach.

For much of the post-war era, Australia's net overseas migration averaged around 90,000 people a year.

In just the first three full financial years of the Albanese Government, it reached approximately 1.27 million people—the largest three-year intake in Australian history.

We have 3 million temporary visa holders. In the September 2025 quarter almost four out of every five additional Australians came through migration rather than natural increase.

It's a merry-go-round. Bring in more immigrants which directly causes housing prices to rise. Young people can't afford to buy a home, have to wait longer to get married and/or have to work longer to try to save a deposit which means they can't have children until later or not at all. Population slows. Bring in more immigrants. Round and round.

Plus they are reshaping the physical, social and psychological character of the country itself.

Goodbye Australia as we used to know it :( :S

And people wonder why Pauline's popularity is growing exponentially?
