The only thing Obama can do about this caste system is re-emphasise that it is an imposition of personal will, lack of talent or cultural dysfunction.

Obama came from a single mother household living in difficult circumstances and has rose through education and hard work to the top job.

Those African Americans that value education and hard work succeed; the US has the largest black middle class anywhere in the world. It has more black millionaires than anywhere else in the world, more black elected representatives, more black people at Uni than anywhere other than Africa.

If you are in the bottom rungs in the America of 2009 you earned that position.
