The Australian understands that Mr Badar was has also been told to “stop talking about Australian fighters in Iraq and Syria” by the Sydney solicitor representing young men who have had their passports cancelled by ASIO because it is claimed he is “hurting their case”.
The Abbott government is reported to be considering ways to widen the criteria used to proscribe terrorist organisations because, on present advice, it could not ban Hizb ut-Tahrir.
Australian Lebanese Friendship Association president Said Alameddine said he would back the Australian government, considered an enemy by Hizb ut-Tharir, in such a move “any day of the week”.
Asked whether the group should be banned, Mr Alameddine replied: “Yeah, of course. Whatever is important and necessary to protect the Australian people should be done.”
He described Hizb ut-Tahirir as “a bad seed in the community and they make moderate Muslims look bad”.
“They preach division,” he said.
The solicitor of the men who have had their passports cancelled, Zali Burrows, would not comment on her clients’ cases but did say any Australian government move to ban Hizb ut-Tahrir would be “dangerous”.
“That kind of power is dangerous,” she said. “Where does it end? What threat has Hizb ut-Tahrir actually made?”
Islamic Friendship Associatiom of Australia spokesman Keysar Trad said the group relied on exploiting marginalised young men.
Muslim lawyer and writer Irfan Yusuf defended Mr Badar, saying the festival debacle was more a matter of a bad headline.
“It’s like those signs you see on university campuses that just say, you know, SEX in big letters and then ‘now that I have your attention, come to my talk about Christianity’,” he said. “The festival is a sign of the sub (headline writer) stuffing up and the author being left high and dry.”
Mr Badar said he would not have justified honour killings in his speech.

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/la ... 7083350034" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;PRIME Minister Tony Abbott will "red card" members of groups like Hizb ut-Tahrir, denying them entry into Australia.
THE radical Islamic group will hold a lecture against United States-led combat in Syria in Sydney's Lakemba on Friday night.
Mr Abbott says the group is engaged in "hate preaching" and members should not be allowed to enter Australia to attend such events.
"By all means let Australians who want to say stupid things to say stupid things but there's no point importing troublemakers from overseas to stir people up," he told Macquarie Radio on Wednesday.
"I am sorry we haven't red-carded these hate preachers before but it will happen and it will happen quickly."
Mr Abbott said the current law doesn't allow the government to ban Hizb ut-Tahrir unless the group engages in terrorism, even though it campaigns against Australian values.
New laws to be introduced before the end of the year will also make it illegal to promote terrorism.
They need more than a "red card" they need to be officially banned.

Alan Jones preaches hate and division. shall we proscribe him? It would be a terrible thing to do—all those oldies listening to The Parrot might have to think for themselves.Black Orchid wrote:http://www.theaustralian.com.au/nationa ... 6968527870" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;A MUSLIM leader has called for Hizb ut-Tahrir to be banned in Australia, as exasperatation within the community grows over the extremist group and its spokesman Uthman Badar for drawing Islam into another “stereotypical debate”.

The Australian and the Daily Telegraph—dirty propaganda rags also fomenting hate and division, proscribe them too, eh?

I don't suppose you have even given one thought as to why Hizb ut-Tahrir is banned in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Russia, Pakistan, parts of Central Asia, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Bangladesh?
Notice they are even banned in Arab countries? Why is that do you think?

What a load of bullshyt Monk.
The rally was going ahead and was not organised by Jones. Largely it was fed by 10 + years of being tolerant of the intolerant. People had just had enough.

Re: Hizb ut-Tahrir in Australia
I haven't paid much attention in the past to this organisation, but I saw a review of it on the 7.30 Report last night and was quite shocked that they can actually spruik about Muslim warfare in Australia and their quest for an IS state here.
Abbott has tightened so many anti-terrorist laws, why won't he do something about this group of misfits? He has now committed us to another futile and expensive war in Iraq and possibly Syria, but he allows these louts to promote their hate and advertise for new recruits. We should be ramping up security in Australia before we embark on more wars in the ME - not only because of the threat of terrorism, but because of Ebola also.
We might be deterring asylum seekers, but we're not scrutinising the influx of 457 workers here, or visitors from the ME or Africa because we're too busy wasting our resources on appeasing US ideology.

Emma alberici sorted out a sympathiser of this mob last night. Wow, even the PM praised her this morning. Abbott needs to come down hard on those that support and actively encourage an Islamic state.
