If the baby had a check-up at 9 months, (as advised) and was noted to have not been thriving at the time the doctor/nurse investigated why didn't they run some tests?
The medial staff should have been on the alert, prenatal and postnatal , and would have known if the child was at an increased risk of developing a B12 deficiency due to mum being vegetarian. It's likely, the deficiency started in vitro, before the child was even born....(again, was this picked up?) perhaps her mother has developed pernicious anemia. Some infant thickeners cause B12 mal absorption, but I dare say, it's more likely to have been something this child suffered with from conception .... with immigration straining Frances 'multicultural France'... whats the prenatal care like over there these days, because if this woman was attending all her clinic appointments, and following clinical advice, and was not placed on a B12 supplement whilst she was pregnant, then if you want to get technical about it, she could sue the health care team who failed to detect and treat not just the baby's deficiency, but the pregnant mothers too.
Being a socialist country, it's likely they will disallow this couple adequate legal representation.

Because from memory, the life cycle of the intestinal worms in roos is different to other animals, ie, the meats wormy, cant be drenched...the worms re-enter the blood stream after laying eggs in the gut, ...or something along these lines.
I wouldn't eat it myself, ok for cat meat, not fit for human consumption to my way of thinking.
