The scout leader was accused of interfering with eight boys over a 20-month period in Canberra and Sydney.

The organisation made no reports to police at the time.

Scouts Australia says it did not go to police because of the wishes of most of the boys' parents.

However, one family did advise authorities.

Interesting. I was a Girl Guide Leader in Canberra in around 1982 for approximately 6 months. I did it as a community service thing. It became way too involved as I was working and needed to be doing something each weekend for the Guides. I gave up. I did not see any sign of "child abuse" or anything of the sort.

Camping trips to Mount Majura where the Scouting Movement had property, were well organised and there was absolutely no way (that I recall) where children were left alone with adults.
