Australian workplace redundancies.

Post by Bobby » Mon Aug 16, 2021 4:34 pm

I know of companies that retrenched or sacked nearly all their Aussie workers
and got Indians to do the jobs at half the price.
They weren't very good at their jobs but
if you pay peanuts you get monkeys.
The traitor Australian bean counters in charge gave themselves a pay rise.

How do companies work now?

They hire someone at a low level but with far more education and then
get them to do the work of someone
with that higher education.

example:
hire a forklift driver but get them to do
all the shipping paperwork, ordering of parts,
emailing all over the world, updating the computer accounting system,
send out invoices,
handling complex accounting packages,
Make them a health and safety officer.
Get them to do all sorts of other work as well.
But they get the minimum wage as a forklift driver.

It happens in EVERY job -
there is no such thing as being hired to do one job anymore.

How can they do that? I thought there were "rules" about what you have to pay people for various jobs.

They get an Indian desperado with good qualifications but hire them only as a forklift driver.
The guy accepts it because he has a wife and 4 kids to house and feed.
They know he can do more so they load him up with a lot more work within the first few months.
It happens every day in every workplace.
It's normal now.

Really. Why doesn't somebody report that sort of company? It is against The Law!

No one who is desperate for a job complains.
The companies out there are full of desperate workers
who'll do anything to keep their jobs in our concrete jungles.

Anything is better than The Dole, I guess.

That's how they feel but they are being exploited and
other workers are losing their jobs from it.
