No...with US air support, Taliban would be pinned down easily outside a heavily defended perimeter.
If the Taliban wanted to they would take the airport -
after all they took a whole country.
Focus Bobby....on a small patch of urban Earth bristling with weapons...with an unchallenged Air Force on tap to nuke the shit out of anyone nasty approaching that small patch.

If the West cannot defend that small patch.......the West is truly screwed.

nahh - the Yanks will operate the airport because the Taliban lets them.
That will be the only reason.

Which airbase will the air support come from, Aussie?

Pakistan supported the Taliban during the whole 20 year war.
They have taken the Yanks as suckers.

Nope. Was listening to David kilcullen (hope you know who he is) the other day and he reckons since Bagram closed a few months ago USA has no capacity for CAS in Kabul.

Biden also cut off all logistics to the Afghan military so they had no ability to use what air power they have.

Trump may have set the deal to pull the US military personal out, but Biden totally cut off all support.

Bagram? Gawd.

Do a simple google search.

Did you not notice that I referred to Pakistan, not Afghanistan? Bagram is in Afghanistan.

Trump's deal included the withdrawal of all combat forces by May of this year, the Taliban denying safe haven to terror groups, the release of up to 5,000 Taliban prisoners in exchange for 1,000 Afghan security forces held by the Taliban, and the beginning of comprehensive peace negotiations between the Taliban and the Western-backed Afghan government. If they did not abide they would "face dire consequences unlike any seen before."

Biden cut and run, left Americans and allies behind in a flurry trying to burn sensitive documents, billions of dollars worth of equipment and machinery then immediately ran off to holiday at Camp David.

Now we have China laughing their asses off and rattling their sabres playing war games off the coast of Taiwan.

Anyone even attempting to shift the blame and justify this moron's move should be dropped over Kabul without a parachute.

Der. Biden closed Bagram, the only base which could have provided CAS. You can't run CAS from as far as Paki.

Pakistan caused this.
They played the Yanks for suckers.
They supported the Taliban the whole time - 20 years -
and even had Osama hidden away in a military town.

The Yanks should have closed off the border to
Pakistan immediately in 2001.
Then at least that prick Osama wouldn't have got away.
Obama even gave his Muslim Pakistan friends $billions in aid.

I suggest the ideal solution.

Get all the allies out

Nuke the whole country to glass
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream
