Beijing sees Labor as a more compliant partner

The CCP hack into ScoMo's WeChat account and what does Albanese say?

The fact that the WeChat account of opposition leader Anthony Albanese was untouched tells you everything you need to know. China wants Mr Albanese to win the next election and what’s more, it wants everyone to know that Mr Albanese is its preferred candidate. That’s hardly a surprise. China has very warm relations with Labor premiers, particularly Victorian premier Daniel Andrews. No doubt if Mr Albanese were elected, China would hope not only to reinstate its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) agreement with Victoria, but to ink a BRI agreement with Australia’s federal government, just as it has with New Zealand.

Mr Albanese, for his part, used an address at the National Press Club this week to praise China effusively saying it deserved ‘a great deal of credit for lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty’ and claiming that it was ‘an economic achievement, the likes of which we haven’t seen, ever, in human history’. This is absurd, disgraceful stuff. Absurd because the only reason that the Chinese people have suffered such crippling poverty was because of the ruthless and economically bankrupt policies that Chairman Mao pursued in the first place. Once Mao died and China began to partially open its economy, introducing its version of state-sponsored crony capitalism, it embarked on the long process of catching up with the West. Yet even today, China is one of the most unequal countries in the world, with appalling poverty in some regions. Worse, much of its rapid economic growth in recent years has been achieved using forced labour, concentration camps, and most horrific of all, the farming and sale of human organs.

Any politician worth his salt (which very few are) should have condemned these tactics but not old Albo.

Brush up on your Mandarin. 8-)

Good points made there.

Dan Andrews signed up to China. They would have taken Victoria for all they could.
He is naieve.

Scott Morrison stopped it.

Labor urges closer defence ties with China.

Australia should embrace closer military co-operation with China, Labor deputy leader and defence spokesman Richard Marles has declared, labelling attempts to define Beijing as an enemy a "profound mistake".

Liberal Senator James Paterson says in “many instances” Labor has taken political advantage from the deteriorating relationship with China – and suggests Deputy Opposition Leader Richard Marles may have “something to hide.”

“For example, on Insiders last year, Richard Marles said that there would be closer relations between China and Australia under the Labor Party because they would do diplomacy better,” Senator Paterson told Sky News Australia.

“He also delivered a speech, in September 2019 in Beijing, where he promised closer military ties between the People’s Liberation Army and the Australian Defence Force.

“That speech curiously is no longer present on his website, I’m not sure why, a website that otherwise very well documents his speeches, his interviews, his media releases.”

Senator Paterson suggested the absence of Richard Marles’ Beijing speech may be a result of “embarrassment” or “perhaps he has something to hide”.

His remarks come after the nation's top intelligence agency warned Australians who have sensitive information online that they may be targeted by foreign spies.

In their efforts to appease and pander to the authoritarian Chinese Communist Party, Labor has once again shown that they are prepared to overlook all of China's worst offenses to the detriment of Australia's best interests.

Arguing for Australia to not just deepen our economic reliance but also our military involvement with the CCP—despite their very recent economic aggression targeted toward our nation—shows you just how deep the hooks of Chinese influence are buried into the Labor party.

China's lack of transparency regarding the role they played in unleashing the COVID-19 pandemic on the world and their economic attacks on Australia have had a devastating effect on the lives and livelihoods of millions of Australians.

For Labor to continue to whitewash these offenses is unforgivable.

I strongly criticised ALL of those happenings at the time, Red, but they are years old and we are talking about events of the present now. I also called for Gladys Liu to be dumped.

When have you ever criticised the ALP? Apparently you're quite happy to learn Mandarin. I'm not.
