ScoMo power grab.

Post by Bobby » Tue Aug 16, 2022 1:33 pm

The question is -

why all the secrecy even from his own ministers?

ScoMo needs to answer a lot of questions and
so does the Governor General David Hurley.
Our democracy is not there to be usurped by tyrants -
this is not a tin pot African regime.

A senior Liberal frontbencher whose role was assumed by Scott Morrison without her knowledge has called on the former prime minister to resign from parliament, as he admits the extraordinary move to jointly appoint himself to several ministries in secret was "unnecessary".
Key points:

Intelligence agencies did not know Scott Morrison had put himself in joint control of home affairs
One of his former ministers has called on him to resign over the move
Mr Morrison admits he used his extra powers to overrule another one of his ministers

Mr Morrison appointed himself to jointly run the home affairs portfolio without ever informing then-minister Karen Andrews, she said in a statement.

"I had absolutely no knowledge and was not told by the [prime minister, the prime minister's office] nor the department secretary. This undermines the integrity of government," Ms Andrews said.

"I think that Scott Morrison needs to resign, and he needs to leave parliament.

Governor General David Hurley must resign in disgrace.

He should be charged by the police with treason.

Hurley's part will certainly be scrutinised but he is supposed to act in accordance with the advice of the PM unless he perceives something unconstitutional. He should have seen red flags here particularly when there was no public announcement.

The answers the question about whether there will be teal independents in Vic & NSW elections!

Now Whitlam and Barnard held about 16-17 ministries apiece for a short while after Labor won the 1972 elections. This was publicly announced as was the fact they would only receive one wage. What ’Scummo did is very very different! I wonder HM wages he collected?

’Scummo held FIVE ministries by the end.

Just heard on ABC radio that Albo is seeking legal advice.

To the common man it doesn't seem right to be working in a clandestine way.
That is the preserve of banana republics and tin pot African regimes.

Scott gets off Scott free.
The GG also gets off Scott free.
No trial for subverting our democracy.
In other words we have a totalitarian regime
where the PM has absolute power and
our constitutional monarchy is fake -
it is in name only.

Australia is a tin pot, banana republic with
a totalitarian regime always in power -
all part of the 2 party club of mates in a one party state.

Only members of the NSC — and the Governor-General — knew that Morrison also had that authority, which amounted to effective power of martial law.

There is broad expectation that the solicitor-general will not find illegality in the delegation of ministerial power to Morrison, at least in respect of the health portfolio.

But there remain significant matters at play: principle, practice, convention and propriety.

And it is on these measures that Morrison risked running foul.

Why the former prime minister saw fit to amass such immense secret power may never be properly explained.

But his former cabinet colleagues, many of whom have been horrified to learn what had been concealed from them, say it speaks of a psychology of control, distrust and even paranoia.
