Yup, the multiplier effect will mean more than 150 will lose their jobs.

BHP to slash 2000 jobs in WA
We might be in a bit of trouble here.
Re: David Jones slash workforce
It just gets worse.
"RETAIL giant Harvey Norman is the first major retailer to succumb to the global credit crisis with the closure of its Domayne Campbelltown store, with the loss of 40 jobs.
And in a futher blow, the nation's largest discount retailer - Australian Discount Retail (ADR) has collaped with debts of almost $100 million, leaving 2700 full-time staff facing an uncertain future."

Once I sold over priced cologne,
I was not alone,
Once I sold faux status in our time,
Government can you spare a dime?

Actually BHP are sacking 3400 people in Australia, many of who have invested heavily in the property after relying for so long on their huge pay packets. There will be a massive fallout from this and property prices in WA are going to plummet.
The Ravensthorpe closure will see 1450 jobs lost there and 350 at Yabulu, with another 100 employees and 200 contractors going at the Mt Keith nickel operation.
BHP's fourth-quarter nickel production of 50,200 tonnes was up 15 per cent on the previous quarter, which was affected by the Kalgoorlie smelter rebuild.
About 1100 jobs would be cut from Queensland coking coal mines and 200 people working on the Olympic Dam expansion would be axed, Mr Vanselow said.
