This landmark agreement will help take away the product people smugglers are trying to sell -- a ticket to Australia," said Gillard. "The key message this will deliver to people smugglers and those seeking to make the dangerous sea voyage to Australia is: do not get on that boat. Under this arrangement, if you arrive in Australian waters and are taken to Malaysia you will go to the back of the queue
Haven't you squealing lefty fucking bedwetters been screeching that 'there is no queue'?

A linked issue/concern.

http://au.todaytonight.yahoo.com/articl ... oyed-study

.. a damning government study into refugees and how they fare once they've been allowed into Australia.

Key points:

1) Dept of Immigration: current govt policy is effectively importing unemployment.

2) Disturbing figures show most refugees are relying on unemployment benefits for up to 5 yrs.

I reckon there is a danger that you may not have understood this:
In exchange, Australia has agreed to accept five refugees for every one we swap, resettling up to 4000 genuine refugees from Malaysia.
Note the reference to 'genuine.' That means these guys have been processed and checked. We get the good guys, and Malaysia gets the 'yet to be determined' dudes.

Well, that is the only way I can make sense of it.

Do you trust malysian processing! Look at their system of govt. Add to that it is a Muslim country, you would think the Muslim "refugees" would like to stay in a country that more matches their way of life. instead they will come here and demad we change to suit their needs. they will live in enclaves like Auburn and denigrate everything Australia stands for.

Has Malaysia signed up to the UNHCR Protocols? Ummmm No. So refugees can’t settle there.

Plough....I am a bit silly, I suppose. I have the view that a million public servants have researched the issue, and bunged up to their Minister a proposal. Some Pollies took the ball, and ran with it. I really doubt we have the capacity/knowledge to second guess them.

Having said that...your point is very valid.

So they can process but not settle, what a load of twaddle. Any country can take refugees, it is just a question of how they treat them. The fact is malaysia has many thousands living there. Most of which they long to get rid of. Australia is an easy target given the political fight going on here regarding boat arrivals. I dont trust those corrupt asian countries run by dictatorships to process these people properly. They will just send us the shit they dont want and we will have to deal with the problems that occur.

I have every capacity to second guess this shit as this malformed abortion of a government has been striving to find some country(that is not Naroo sp) to process these people so as to look tough on border protection. How can we trust that they have thought this through? I give their past riumphs like the roof isulation scheme.
