Re: MKR
http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/tv ... bedda0316bAfter months of teasing the “MKR scandal”, more than 1.6 million viewers [5 city metro] last night saw the unbelievable verbal attack that Sonya and Hadil launched on rival team, Jess and Emma.
In addition to criticising the women’s appearance, Sonya and Hadil also threatened several other teams at the table, telling them: “We’ll come for you ... don’t you worry.”
Sonya and Hadil were eventually asked to leave the table by judge Manu Feildel, but many viewers found the episode uncomfortable to watch and criticised the network for exploiting bullying behaviour for ratings.
Viewers also accused the TV network of being hypocritical after Sunrise launched an anti-bullying campaign earlier this year called “Beat The Bullies” with the aim to “fight for a change in policy and behaviours”.
Yesterday a My Kitchen Rules insider told news.com.au that there was even more extreme behaviour from Sonya and Hadil that wasn’t shown during the episode.
“You don’t see the worst of it,” the insider said
“We’re a 7.30pm show and it still had to be kept suitable for families. There was certainly a lot that happened that didn’t make the show ... It was pretty hardcore.”.
In response to the criticism, a Channel Seven spokesperson told news.com.au today:
“Last night’s episode of My Kitchen Rules dealt with an unprecedented level of continued personal attacks and threats by one team against other teams. Despite a number of constructive conversations and second chances, this team continued to bully and attack other teams.
Deplorable behaviour by those things Sonya and Hadil and I am glad it was aired. I read before the season started that in Tasmania the girls team actually abused and spat at the boys team.
What disgusting pigs and I felt from the start that the Hadil thing should have its face pushed in. I just hope that Channel 7 does not give them anymore air time.

I am opposed to bullying, but wonder how much of it is for entertainment purposes, and or even if this is something we should be "celebrating".
Reality or not, should we be condoning or normalizing bullying, period?

I didn't see it as bullying. It was obnoxious, arrogant and incredibly rude and it was them against everyone else. They started it and need to own it.
Not bullying at all imo. Just utterly disgraceful behaviour.

I'm pleased my TV channel appears to be frozen on ABCkids these days.
Just too much garbage.

Re: MKR
The ads are implying that they have not been totally kicked out but earlier ads say differently. I guess we will find out on Sunday.

Re: MKR
MKR thrives on you watching them They will always - always - provoke controversy and conflict between the contestants as a consequence. They do so to earn your ratings. It is a pointless program. I much prefer the SBS "The Chef's Line" or any of their cooking programs. Much more interesting and the amount of conflict is right for mature adults. Ditch the commercial TV networks is what I would recommend.
