Feral Jam

Post by Outlaw Yogi » Sun Sep 23, 2018 1:52 pm

In early May I was laid off work for 3 months (turned out to be best part of 4 months)
In early July tragedy struck ... I ran out of Boysenberry jam.
I figured I'd make some jam from the mullberries down the back, but got there about a month too late.
The fruit was all dried and shrivelled up.

I took the dogs out into the forest looking for pigs, and came across a fruiting Prickly Pear cactus.
So took some using a plastic bag as a glove to make jam - don't get the hairs on you, they stay in and
itch for about 2 days.

Raw (and peeled with a box cutter razor) they taste like mullberries.
Boiled with sugar, molassas and a bit of wallably jelly fat they taste like blackberries.

How was the jam?
Not bad, the only pitfall being not removing the seeds, which are about the size of match heads and hard like rocks,
even after boiling twice.

If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

After that , I just could not read the rest. My emotions were overwhelming. How cruel could the world be.
