Health Insurance
Saw your topic Bobby and it got me thinking.
My neighbour needs a hip replacement. They are poms and have lived, worked and paid taxes here for 16 years. They haven't become permanent residents/citizens because the government expects them to pay $60,000 PLUS for the privilege. Even though the internet says differently I have seen the paperwork.
They have paid into Medicare Private for 16 years at $800 per month and when she learned that she needed the hip replacement she was told the fine print says she is not covered but was offered another policy from the same company for $600 per month which does include hip replacements.
Only problem? She has to wait 12 months even though she has paid $200 more per month for the past 16 years to the same company.
What a RIP OFF!!

Another thing ...
How do all these people from the third world possibly afford to become permanent? The ones we see at the ceremonies each year. Or is it a matter of we only bite westerners for the exorbitant fees and give the rest a free ride?

Yes - the medical insurance industry is ripping people off very badly.
It needs a royal commission.

Re: Health Insurance
I transfer my OP here:
My next door neighbor has had a nightmare with their hospital insurance provider.
They need a knee & a hip replacement & in the fine print
of their insurance they're not covered.
They could be left out of pocket for $30K or more and they have no savings.
I checked mine & it seems I am reasonably covered.
Here is a screen shot of my BUPA policy.
It's worth checking your own policy as you could be paying big bucks for rubbish.

Re: Health Insurance
I had swimmers ear, constant and on going ear infections
I had to have an operation to fix it $16K later, but it was classifies as cosmetic surgery......no coverage.
My daughter had an underbite, causing pain and headaches, she required an operation $6k later.......no coverage, orthodontic not dental or urgent surgery.
Broke my back, in hospital for several weeks, they talked me into treating it as public rather than insurance because if I went in as a insurance case it woukd cost me tens of thousands.
My wife required new knees.
We were not covered for the specific knees we wanted (the best)
But this time I was not going to back down.
Took it to the ombudsmen and were covered for all but $10k
I have and always have had top cover with HCF
These thieves get away with this robbery because they give pollies and their families 100% free cover for everything.

I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

Re: Health Insurance
I have been told by specialist doctors, and even my dentist, that it just isn't worth it.
