In ancient Rome, during times of crisis a dictator with supreme authority and absolute power was appointed officially to save the republic.
In fact if not for dictatorship of Quintus Fabius Maximus Verrucosus Rome would fall to Hannibal's forces during the Second Punic War.

United States tax dollars may have been used to fund protests against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the Biden-Harris administration, an investigation published by the US House of Representatives on Thursday revealed.

Additionally, the investigation suggested that the Biden-Harris administration “potentially funded groups with ties to US-designated terrorist organizations.” like HAMAS.
