Re: Test Cricket
I detest cricket since the nuns made us stand out in the hot sun and play it at school.
I also detest the way they replace all other programming with it. Why not put it on one of their alternative channels, for those who want to watch it, and leave the rest alone? The stands are almost empty anyway.
I turned over to 7 last night to watch something when the cricket had supposedly ended to find it had ended early and the show was already half over.

Re: Test Cricket
Test Cricket was originally a game for the players and not a game for crowds. It was too long a format.
Now we have the very short 20 over format.
Test: attacking bowling, defensive batting
T20: defensive bowling, attacking batting
In Tests, it's about protecting ones wickets for as long as possible, while T20 is about scoring as many runs as possible with wickets expendable.
I like the One Day format. Best of both worlds and it could do with a tweak of have a full bowling/fielding side of players and a full lineup of full-time batters in each team (22 players).
No part-time all rounders. Could even do just 25 over double innings too

I suppose it was OK with a large hat on and some sun glasses and skin protection cream. SPF 25.
We had none of that in the good old days and we fried ourselves.
I used to feel sick after playing cricket all day in the hot sun.

Nice day out under an English sun in the Counties.
But I also stayed away from cricket here for that very reason. White shirts let the UV in, more than black which promotes heat. So many old cricketers with skin cancers.
As a youngster, we only played street cricket when it was cool. Not under a hot sun on hot black tar roads
