I loathe fireworks as I think it is a huge waste of taxpayer's money that could be spent on more important things.

Why do you lefties think it is a great idea?

Seeing as we have a RW government in NSW - the fireworks are hardly a lefty incentive. I agree that they're a waste of money. Millions of dollars up in smoke in seconds and for what - so people can see a few colours in the sky? I watched a few minutes of it and even though I didn't have a clue who the hosts were - their commentary was appalling, so turned it off.
