I think we need a thread about this lot, since they are in the "news" every-bloody-day whether we want to know about them or not!
The latest is:
The disturbing truth behind this royal tour photo opportunity
Every member of the royal family who has come to our shores has taken the obligatory souvenir snap with a cuddly koala and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were no different, sidling up to a prime specimen at Taronga Zoo last October.
But unlike other royals before her, Meghan was careful to avoid any contact with the koala she posed with — a detail that wasn’t missed by the British press, who speculated the newly-pregnant duchess had been told not to touch because of
koala chlamydia, a devastating disease that is spreading virtually unchecked throughout the country. (
Although it’s worth noting humans cannot contract the disease, and Taronga’s koalas are unlikely to have been infected anyway.)
Harry gave the creature a little pat, but Meghan carefully abstained.

Koala chlamydia — a sexually transmitted disease with symptoms ranging from infertility and blindness to excruciating urinary tract infections and kidney failure — is now at epidemic levels, with some wild populations in Queensland having a 100 per cent infection rate. ... “Ten years ago we admitted 28 koalas.35 mins ago
so now you know!

Yes, indeed and it ONLY applies to KOALAS ... patting the animal won't give you KOALA CHLAMYDIA. Was Meghan or Harry planning to have sex with it?

Stupid story.

I see no reason why we should be ruled by some foreign monarch.
There are two solutions to this problem. Either we become a Republic or we create our own Royal House. This can be done simply by inviting one of the younger Windsors out here to become our King or Queen. In doing so, they must relinquish any hope of becoming the Monarch of the UK and instead become an Australian citizen.
This will of course, completely overturn all the arguments of the Monarchists.

They are at the top of the pyramid of Government. Everything is done in their name. They decide who is to be GG or not. The Australian Government has had several blues over that, over the decades, Cods. Why should we owe allegiance to a foreign monarch? I took an Oath of Affirmation when I joined the Australian Army to that Foreign Monarch, what is wrong with the Government of Australia, made up of Australians, Mmmm?
