All species of Wombat are protected in Australia except in the state of Victoria, which is where this is happening.
Again I say ... what the hell is up with Victoria? Do the Chinese own the Andrews' government?
As the unprotected status for Wombats well predates the present involvement of Chinese underworld figures I hardly think the Victorian Government can be blamed for their being hunted by Chinese criminals, Black Orchid. I agree that the Victorian Government needs to rethink the status of Wombats and other native wildlife.
Rolls your eyes back to you. Didn't you just say ...
Wombats, like most marsupials are considered protected species by the Government(s),
They are not protected in Victoria and the Victorian government IS to blame. The Victorian government allows Chinese criminals to set up hunting farms for Wombats and other Australian animals and, again, they ARE to blame for that too.
Actually they are, Black Orchid. It all depends on where they are...

I guess in the great socialist state of VICezuela, all wombats are equal but some wombats are more equal than others...

Victorian police have confirmed they are investigating reports of wombats being hunted down and shot with military-grade weapons at a Chinese-owned luxury resort in Victoria.

For once I agree with Hanson Young. Unbelievable! &%$%$*% Chinese
What the hell is wrong with Victoria?
So what is a military grade weapon , is the Remington 700 a military grade rifle or as some say just an ordinary hunting rifle of questionable quality compared to other rifles currently available. Sounds like some media hyperbole here.
The only people who can legally hunt wombats are the Aborigines if anyone else hunts them they should be prosecuted.
