Re: From the Horses Mouth
The ALP have done a ring around to members and supporters and it's conclusive that they are unable to find anyone who fits that requirement.
Sucks to be them.
This election is going to be the biggest shellacking of a federal political party in history. I would not be surprised if the ALP try on a last minute leader change in a backbench revolt

Nothing surprises me when it comes to a dysfunctional Labor party.IQS.RLOW wrote:The ALP have done a ring around to members and supporters and it's conclusive that they are unable to find anyone who fits that requirement.

Shorten knows that taking the reins now would kill him politically because he would be spat out in the blood letting after the election. No one in the ALP with any ambition is going to grab the poisoned chalice.

After the Rudd-Gillard era I mean.IQS.RLOW wrote:Shorten knows that taking the reins now would kill him politically because he would be spat out in the blood letting after the election. No one in the ALP with any ambition is going to grab the poisoned chalice.
But I wont rule out a despotic leap of grandiose faith in the lead-up to the next election either, because even if Labor loses with Shorten as their leader, he will humbly deliver a manifesto, a speech that will path the way for the following election after that.
The mans an egotistical go-getting showbag, but he's a fantastic public speaker. Has the gift of the gab.
And he's a much better liar than Gillard too.
If you recall, John Howards initial defeat,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian ... tion,_1987 though this didn't stop him being re-elected as Liberals leader almost a decade later in 1996 then wining the 1997 election.
All I'm saying is don't rule out a surprise Labor leadership change.
I firmly believe both Gillard and Rudd were only keeping his seat warm anyway, and he was who advised Gillard to knife Rudd afterall.
Dont underestimate him.
