Anyone have any other examples of a skeumorph?
Skeumorphs
design element from an old thing, added to a new one.
Example: a cork-colored filter on a cigarette that no longer has cork.
But when skeumorphs get in the way of how we actually use something or build something, they demonstrate a lack of imagination or even cowardice on the part of the designer:

Failure? Sounds like a narrow minded view from a bitter product designer who has never come up with a sellable product or has an inkling of commercial acumen.
Skeumorphs are very common and important in product design and marketability, but as with anything, there are degrees of the swinging pendulum and design limitation and familiarity for marketability purposes need to be balanced.
It's a fine line between purity of design and marketability...more often than not in product design, this line is crossed at the wrong point.

The e-cigarette isn't an example of a failure at all because it doesn't get in the way of how we actually use it. In fact, if it didn't look like the cigarette it is intended to replace it probably would not sale.

My point exactly...The battery size on that e-cig is totally inappropriate for daily use for a smoker but the design was used for familiarity and adoption rather than efficiency

The e-cigarrette is to a cigarette as what a dildo is to a cock.

You did. Thank you. But please do not post a pic of a dildo. At least a realistic looking one.

The earliest car designs featured some.
This one had a fake horse in front, so it wouldn't, umm, scare the horses.
