'........ We have averted a catastrophe. You only have to look at New York, London and Spain.
To claim we didn't need to implement these measures is at best naive and at worst malicious.
I think in Australia we really don't appreciate what we have been spared. ..............
........ We're not special. We are no different New York or Italy or London, we may be a little less crowded.
We are all humans and this virus is what it is. ...... '

I am not having a dig at anyone here who have differing views.
This is the medical view on it.

Re: covid medical information
Yikes - this thing is a killer
In Aust it has 994 current cases.
There are 79 in hospital, 28 of those are in ICU.
We dodged a missile. I do not want this coming back at us for round 2.

We have never been asked to 'stay at home.'
Both sides of the federal Govt and every state has never unanimously agreed on sweeping regulations.
This had happened in almost every country worldwide.
This is the real deal.

And the NSW-Victoria border and the Victoria-SA borders. Border closing isn't new, it is just rare.Redneck wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 12:27 pmQld -NSW Border was last closed during the 1918-19 Spanish flu!sprintcyclist wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 12:20 pmyeap, as far as I know Australia has never closed borders from state to state or internationally.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 10:21 amMy Doctor is no shrinking violet and she keeps current and up to date with everything medical and she is very afraid of CV from the information she has gleaned,

We are doing better this time...Despite a swift quarantine response in October 1918, cases of Spanish flu began to appear in Australia in early 1919. About 40 per cent of the population fell ill and around 15,000 died as the virus spread through Australia.
