It took almost 25 years for the polio vaccine to be perfected for use. In that time thousands died and/or were left paralysed from the trial vaccines before it was perfected.

I know - European kids were give live polio by mistake
and some got polio and were paralysed.
It was a tragedy.

I am not so keen to be a guinea pig but
some people have to take that risk for the good of all of us
just as soldiers die in wars to defend our nation.

As Israel races to vaccinate its population to bring the coronavirus under control, a new report shows that even though one million Israelis have been vaccinated, the virus remains difficult to eradicate.

To date, 240 Israelis who received the first dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine have later been diagnosed with the virus, according to the Times of Israel.

Two factors are at work. For one, the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine is only touted to provide 50 percent immunity. It is not until the second dose is administered 21 days after the first dose that 95 percent immunity is achieved.

The second issue is that the injection does not promise instant immunity.

A primer on vaccines published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that vaccines do not confer instant immunity.

I think that all vaccines work better with a later booster?

You don't get a booster with the normal flu vaccine and it's pot luck with that. They guess which strains might be coming down from the northern hemisphere.

Covid-19 will never be eradicated it is with us for good. Our only real protection is herd immunity because it just keeps mutating.

You don't get a booster with the normal flu vax but it's not very effective either -
maybe only 50% effective in many cases.
What it can do is make the actual flu a bit milder so you are not
struck down for 6 weeks but only 3 or 4 days.
