New South Wales has recorded 1,007 new COVID-19 cases and more people have died at home without knowing they had the virus.
Key points:

NSW Health's Jeremy McAnulty has urged people not to delay seeking medical care if they are sick at home

There has been a "concerning" increase in cases around Lithgow in the Central Tablelands

Opposition health spokesman and local MP Ryan Park says the Illawarra region urgently needs more vaccine doses

Of the 11 people who died from the virus yesterday none were fully vaccinated.

Two people had received one dose and NSW Health says at least eight had underlying medical conditions.

One of the fatalities was a man in his 70s from the Blue Mountains who lived at the Uniting Springwood Residential Aged Care Facility. He had not been vaccinated.

The youngest person to die was a man in his 40s from south-west Sydney who passed away at home.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian says the government will release the full details of its freedom roadmap this week, including how and when the unvaccinated can come out of lockdown.
Key points:

NSW is projected to hit 70 per cent double dose vaccinations by October 6
The Premier was hesitant to label easing of restrictions as 'freedom day'
Eight of the nine COVID-19 deaths were unvaccinated

The Premier urged the state to "hold the line" as it recorded nine deaths and 961 COVID-19 infections in the 24 hours to 8:00pm on Saturday.

Ms Berejiklian said 85 per cent of the eligible population in the state had received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

She said the government would this week be announcing more freedoms and citizens could look at November to "plan a trip that you may not have been able to have" before.

Facemasks will be scrapped indoors from December and unvaccinated people have been warned they face another two months in lockdown under NSW's latest roadmap to COVID normal.
Key points:

Unvaccinated people will have to wait until December 1 to have the same freedoms as everybody else
Travel will be allowed throughout NSW for fully vaccinated people once the state hits 80 per cent
The Premier says localised lockdowns may still be needed in the future

The blueprint, unveiled by Premier Gladys Berejiklian today, outlines what life will look like when 80 per cent of people aged 16 or older are fully inoculated against the virus.

Ms Berejiklian also confirmed the first freedoms — such as pubs, restaurants, gyms and hairdressers reopening for fully vaccinated people — would be available from Monday, October 11, shortly after 70 per cent of people aged over 16 were double-dosed.

A further swathe of restrictions will then be eased when 80 per cent of people have had both jabs, which the Premier said was likely to happen "about a fortnight" later.

However, people who are unvaccinated will remain under the current stay-at-home restrictions until December 1.

NSW records 863 new COVID-19 cases and seven deaths

as Premier defends denying freedoms to the unvaccinated

NSW has recorded 863 COVID-19 infections and seven deaths after Premier Gladys Berejiklian defended the government's stance on denying freedoms to the unvaccinated before December.
Key points:

The Premier said life would be "very difficult indefinitely" for the unvaccinated
NSW Police said it would not be regularly checking people's vaccination statuses
The Victorian Premier said his government would be watching how the situation in NSW unfolds

As the rolling seven-day average of daily cases continued to trend down, the NSW government also announced stay-at-home orders for the Tweed and Byron Shire government areas would be lifted at midnight.

The snap lockdown was linked to a crew member connected to reality show I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here who travelled from Sydney and allegedly breached public health orders.

However, Health Minister Brad Hazzard said health authorities were monitoring other NSW regions which had seen an increase in cases including Port Macquarie, Kempsey and Muswellbrook.

"There's more work to do … but I'm putting the community on notice that there may be a further announcement today in regard to [those three] areas," he said.

"We just need to make some final decisions … in the meantime, my strong advice as Health Minister to all the residents in those areas is to be very cautious where you're moving."

No reason for the police to be checking everyone's vaccination status! Regularly or otherwise. :b
