No jab...no job...
I was wondering how long it would take for this topic to surface in the media.
Last nite, SkyNews discussed the problem....
I think that this will open a huge Pandoras Box which SloMo and his cohorts and all
the State Premiers will not have a fkn clue what to do...
Will they all support the looney left or will they sit on their hands and do nothing....
The question to be asked is....
What right has an employer got to mandate vaccinations for all his staff, or they
lose their jobs...
If someone is permanently employed in the workplace under a WorkPlace Agreement,
the employer cannot simply cancel that legally binding contract and replace it
with one that mandates vaccination for everyone.
Occupational Health and Safety legislation in Australia provides that employers
provide a safe and proper work environment.
Does that incorporate the right to mandate compulsory vaccination.
I dont think it does.
The problem will arise with temporary employees.
Under the Small Business Regulations, employers who run a business of
less than 15 employees can dismiss a staff member who has not been employed
with them for twelve months...for literally no reason...or maybe a disguised reason...
These people will be very vulnerable.
Lastly, what about clients of every business.
Will employers be able to state that clients have no right of entry into
the business premises (whether that be a shop, an office or even just a bus or a train)
unless they have been vaccinated.
This is already a possibility with airlines, concerts, theatres etc...
No-one should lose their job, or be denied the right to continue in a job
because they refuse to take the jab...
China has started a war and hasnt even fired a shot.....

Re: No jab...no job...
My cousin (a cop) was forced to take the vaccine or lose his job. He wasn't happy. I think my day is coming soon. After the medical workers, the elderly, and the military get their vaccines, the essential workers will be next. Many of the sites I go to will demand that all contractors have the vaccine when it becomes readily available. I work everywhere, so it's coming.
Many jobs are protected by unions and they may not go for compulsory vaccines, but I suspect they will be bought off to support the vaccine. States like Texas are "right to work" states. You can decline union membership, but employers can fire employees at will for any cause. The goal is to become valuable to your employer so that you are more in the driver's seat.

It will be a conundrum for all countries...
Personally, Im 72 and wont be getting the jab...
Have lived all my life without even a flu jab...
Ill only worry about it when Im refused entry into any premises...
Dont get me wrong...Im not an anti vaxxer....I just feel that people should have
the right to refuse...
In any case, getting the jab will be the least of our worries with Trump releasing
the Indo Pacific plans the other day.....with Biden in charge there will be a war
within 2 years.....
BUT I digress.....

I never used to get the flu shot as I never used to get the flu ...........
Then I got the flu in something like 4 times in 5 years.
I'm now 59 years old, so get the flu shot every year and have been good since then.
I'll probably get a covid vaccine.

Incorrect! The goal is to be your own boss, so you can set your own standards.Texan wrote:The goal is to become valuable to your employer so that you are more in the driver's seat.

We have different goals. I don't want the responsibilities of being an employer. I saw the stress it put on my dad. I just want to be a valuable employee. I'll never be rich but I live well.Nom De Plume wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 9:02 pmIncorrect! If I could develop a skill or product that doesn't require employees I would consider it.

A friend of mine has a Phd in biology. She makes her money as a self employed dog groomer. Another, who escaped extreme DV has a year 9 high school grade and ended up setting up a lawn mowing business.Texan wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:35 pmWe have different goals. You already have a skill that you use for a boss... why not resign and then offer those skills as a self-employed contractor?

Re: No jab...no job...
My brother is a high school teacher and mows yards on the side during the Summers and hangs Christmas lights in the Winter. It works for him because he has 3-4 months off of work each year. After expenses, he makes about $600-800/week. It's hot work. I make a six figure income at my day job and have the opportunity to make an extra $15k-25k in cash recycling old batteries. That's how I got my hernia at work. If I left my day job I would lose my health insurance. I plan to build a shop and make stuff to sell at trade fairs when I retire. Cutting boards, head boards for beds, drink coasters, furniture. I'd like to do something with wood and epoxy resin. Maybe include LED lighting and USB chargers. I'm also interested in lichtenburg wood burning.Nom De Plume wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 1:39 pmA friend of mine has a Phd in biology. She makes her money as a self employed dog groomer.
