Just give it time.

NSW will get a few more just before we are due to come out of lockdown.

And it will be on again.

Premier Dominic Perrottet has announced "major changes" to NSW's roadmap out of COVID-19 lockdowns, as the state recorded 587 new cases and eight deaths.

One of the headline tweaks will be reopening schools for many year groups early.

Fully vaccinated adults are due to get a swathe of new freedoms from Monday — including being able to do things like eat at restaurants and go to the gym, which have been off limits in some areas for more than 100 days.

While the settings around hospitality and retail remain unchanged, Mr Perrottet announced several major departures from the previous blueprint, including:

Increasing the number of adults allowed to gather in homes from five to 10
Increasing the number of adults allowed to gather in public spaces from 20 to 30
Increasing the cap of people at weddings and funerals from 50 to 100
Reopening indoor pools

A ban on singing at religious services will also be tweaked, with performers — including choirs of up to 10 people — permitted

NSW has recorded 646 COVID-19 infections and 11 deaths in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.

One of the deaths, was a man in his 80s who was a resident of the Allity Beechwood Aged Care Facility in Revesby and is the fourth death link to the outbreak there.

Seven of the people who died were unvaccinated.

Nearly nine-out-of-10 people in NSW over the age of 16 have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

As of yesterday, 89.4 per cent of the state's population aged over 16 had received a first dose COVID-19 vaccine, and 70.3 per cent were fully vaccinated.

More to come.

Sydney 'buzzing' as reopening begins,

They're numbers that, just a few months ago, would have sparked soul-searching — almost 500 new COVID-19 infections and eight deaths in a 24-hour period.
Key points:

Many NSW businesses are reopening for the first time in months today
Only people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are being given new freedoms
Premier Dominic Perrottet said: "We need to learn to live alongside the virus."

Instead, there was an air of cautious optimism on Sydney's streets.

Fully vaccinated people in NSW have been given a swathe of new freedoms after a 107-day lockdown.

It means they can get a parmy at the pub, a haircut, dance at a wedding, go to a mosque or church and workout at the gym.

Leichhardt gym owner Karlah Van Arend said there was a buzz this morning.

"All of our classes were packed out, fully booked," she said.

"I think everyone was just raring to get back into the gym.”

Premier Dominic Perrottet says summer will be "boom time" for NSW after the state recorded 360 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths.
Key points:

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet said Monday was a "great day for the state"
Support packages were announced for small businesses
Mr Perrottet said the government did not want to impose lockdowns again, but could not rule it out

Today's infection figures are the lowest they've been since August 12.

This morning the state government announced new business support measures in a bid to stimulate the economy after lengthy lockdowns in large parts of NSW.

If a local lockdown is imposed between December 1 and January 31, 2022 small businesses (with an annual turnover between $75,000 and $50 million) will be eligible for compensation to cover the loss of their perishable stock of up to $20,000.

The stock guarantee comes into effect on December 1, which is when the JobSaver program ends.

New South Wales recorded 265 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.

Five people with COVID-19 died.

There were 60,273 tests undertaken in the latest reporting period.

To date 92 per cent of people over the age of 16 have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 80.3 per cent are fully protected.

Further restrictions have been lifted for people who are fully vaccinated, after the state hit the 80 per cent double-vaccination target on Saturday.

From today, 20 visitors will be allowed in homes and groups of 50 can gather outside.

Masks are no longer mandatory in offices or outdoor settings, unless you are a front-of-house hospitality worker.

Patrons can now drink while standing and dancing is back for everywhere except for nightclubs.

The staggered return to school also started today, with students in kindergarten, year 1 and year 12 all back in classrooms.

There are 606 COVID-19 patients in hospital, with 132 people receiving care in intensive care units.
