They have claimed to have found a "Boson" but they need to investigate what kind it is.

In lay terms... we have found it.... in science terms.... we found something but need to investigate what it really is.

The masses are completely consistent within the parameters of uncertainty... however the uncertainty is still large.....

I am still unclear what is it they have discovered and what they mean by it connects to the mass of elementary particules.... and how it relates to mass in general.
Perhaps the most important scientific advance in my lifetime.
Defintely agree.

In lay terms, we have found a god particle. In science terms, this is the particle that will confirm or tear down our current understanding of physics. We have yet to know for sure which it will be.

There are 6 authors that contributed to the standard model, but Nobel rules limit the number of laureates to three. Should be an interesting conversation.
