Post by Bobby » Tue Mar 26, 2024 10:31 pm

Special relativity accounts for the low melting point of Mercury.

Cool. No wonder Mercury needs to be closer to the sun.

Amazing - how everything is a reaction 'between' Hydrogen and Helium basically - like in 'Stars'.

Do you understand Special relativity - Lorentz transformations?

Will have to look into it. Doesn't ring a bell off the top of my head.

Sorry - my post would appeal only to people
who have done at least stage one physics at Uni.

It's simple in concept -
as the velocity of a particle increases to a sizeable fraction of the speed of light -
its relativistic mass increases.
It's one of the bizarre effects of special relativity as stated by Einstein.

And you went to Uni just to learn that?

That was 0.01% of what learnt.
It was called modern physics in those days.

To think that the Universe exists just by mathematical interpretation is where it all breaks down.
Outside of Maths (Physics, etc) - its all 'Dark Matter' indeed. ;)
