I'm a firm believer in democracy, and think even Trolls have the right to defend themselves.
If banned, how may they?

I think a good old fashioned debate might help towards getting past all this animosity, and past indiscretions.

How about "Live Debates" held at a set time, between only 2 individuals ( not their cheer squads) for say 60 minute blocks, on public display for all to view? Once or twice each week?
Live debates participants may discuss and debate their own experiences, problems, causes etc.... and the rest of us can observe and only comment about the debator or debate itself in another thread " Debate discussion ".
If someone other than the two participants interjects, or doesn't follow the rules of the "debate thread" they get banned.

Just a thought.

We used to have local candidates compete in goat cart races, it was very popular, but now all they can do is to talk bs.
