Well, it seems these blind people are, as I know them to be, one eyed wankers. I recall vividly arriving at Bombay Airport, and it was pissing down. Me, the Indian Bride and two very young kids. Not long after mid-night. Just getting the Cab was mission enough. He had no luggage capacity, so our leather bags were hoisted onto his roof racks, and off we went.

We had booked into the Citizen's Hotel...had a big star rating way back then. So, we ask our Cabbie to take us there. Prior to getting into his Cab, we had agreed that we would not let on that The Indian Bride understood hindi, which of course, she did. Aussie is very tired and very emotional. This fakir drove us around in a meaningless way it seemed to me. Every so often he would stop to ask some other Cabbie....."*&*%*Citizen's Hotel_)(^*$"....and off we would go..............again and again. So, I ask the Bride.............the answer is that he knows, but is fucking us around.

Then, we get there. Still pissing down, monsoonal, and I am by now, menstrual! I am also drenched after I get our luggage off his roof racks, and he has his hand out for payment. I had no idea.....but The Bride decimated his request, and I paid him what she said I ought. The four of us leave him to enter the foyer of the Citizen's Hotel. Looked bloody swank, as we had expected and as we had paid for. Then................the Cabbie fakir is on my arse bitching about what he had been paid. Aussie is in no mood for negotiating and tells him to fuck off. The Bride tells me that he is now revealing that he has twenty thousand children who depend upon him. In my drenched, fatigued, tired and emotional state, I tell her to tell him to fuck off before I deck him, literally. She assures me she did, but the fakir would not fuck off. Then.......a really big bloke.......a Sikh employee of the Citizen's Hotel..collared him and frog marched him off the premises.

So, then we complete the check in stuff, and off we go to our suite. Magnificent. We all unwind, the kids just collapsed....and I am ready for bed. After a pee. Dunny. Relief. Fire it off. Hit the flush...............nothing! The bloody toilet is not plumbed! It is a bowl with nothing attached!

Next morning................well, the same morning actually, I take us out of there to the Jaj............and therein lies another tale.

A common problem for foreigners taking cabs in India.

Knew a Frenchman, very arrogant and very handsome (and knew it) who moved to Thailand. Later he was found dead, murdered by a Thai cabbie. Seems that he always refused to negotiate with the local cabbies on the fare but instead paid them what he thought they were worth, and very arrogantly. Soon word spread among the Thai cabbies until one day the cab didn't take him to his destination but instead to the lonely spot where his body was later found.
