In many ways I do think you are correct on the 50 years.

It is in our nature to stick our head in the sand when it comes to long term risks and do SFA until its and hurts us.

That is a reality that in the long term I hope humanity can overcome. We need to act against our short term instincts. Like rabbits or bacteria we breed until all resources are consumed and then we die back. Unlike rabbits or bacteria we have science and teaching to pass knowledge onto the next generations without it being required to be built into the DNA.

We will create a disaster or high negative impact on life and economies.

We will be remember like we remember that stupid idiots that didn't learn from the Romans and didn't build sanitation into city designs and just shit all over the place in most western city until late 1800's. We all know the value of not shitting in our own nest now.
