I received a photo of such a device that an American friend's wife just got because she has been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea ... she spent several nights at a Sleep diagnostic place before getting it.

Don 't get frightened. I had a look online and they do come as a small nose piece, like this.

Yes unfortunately!

However maybe after getting proper sleep at night

and not sleeping through the day which is a result of not getting proper night sleep

I may actually lose a bit

Glad you got tested, it can be very dangerous!
If left untreated, sleep apnea can increase the risk of health problems, including: High blood pressure. Stroke. Heart failure, irregular heart beats, and heart attacks.

Good on you for admitting here.
Want me to be your personal trainer?

Will losing weight help sleep apnea?
Weight loss of just 10-15% can reduce the severity of OSA by 50% in moderately obese patients. Unfortunately, while weight loss can provide meaningful improvements in OSA, it usually does not lead to a complete cure, and many sleep apnea patients need additional therapies.

Well I am hoping a decent OSA machine might set me on the right path

Thanks Gordon
