Minister Conroy lauds Packer's raid on Ten
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/natio ... 5942998719
Why wouldn't Packer decide to get back into FTA TV when Liebor are handing back a quarter of a million dollars to the FTA TV stations.
Crikey would be hysterical over this if it involved the coalition....but let me guess. They won't raise a whimper just like they did when $250M was handed back to the FTA stations
And this govt has the hide to accuse The Australian of bias while they are busy sucking Crikey off under the desk

Didn't he make about 10 mill in the first few days off the share price increase?

I fail to see how this is any Government sucking Packer's cock. More likely, Packer is taking up a fallback position.
It all revolves around the sports anti-siphonning list. Some sports cannot be shown exclusively on pay-tv or the digital multi-channels, they must be shown on analogue free-to-air TV. With analogue FTA starting to be phased out, a review of the ASL is obviously due. With this review Packer is obviously hoping that he will get more things available to be shown on pay-TV, that is preferred option. But if (as seems likely) the government keeps pretty much the same list but counts FTA digital multi-channels the same as analogue FTA then it will be a huge boost for them, at the expense of pay-TV. Packer is just positioning himself for option B if his preferred option doesn't happen.
