Gillard holds meeting with Japan's emperor

Prime Minister Julia Gillard and her partner Tim Mathieson have been granted an audience with emperor Akihito and empress Michiko at the Imperial Palace in the heart of Japan's capital.

The meeting took place in the private residence, with the main palace conserving power through energy rationing because of damage to nuclear power plants.

Ms Gillard says she told the emperor and empress that Australia would aid Japan's recovery after last month's earthquake and tsunami.

"It was a very great privilege to meet with them, and it gave me the opportunity to personally convey to their majesties the feelings of the Australian people about the devastating natural disaster here," she said.

"They expressed to both of us their very sincere gratitude for the work Australia has done to assist the people of Japan in the wake of the devastating earthquake and tsunami.

"They also inquired about how we were responding and overcoming from our summer of natural disasters."

Ms Gillard later attended a luncheon with business leaders and told them Australia would become Japan's most important supplier of liquefied natural gas.

Among the guests were the chairmen of Nippon Steel and Mitsubishi.

Ms Gillard told the audience Japan could also rely on Australia to supply coal and iron ore as it rebuilt communities destroyed by last month's earthquake and tsunami.

She says it will supply other staples too.

"Wheat for your noodles, barley for your beer, buckwheat for your soba and Aussie beef for your enjoyment," she said.

The Prime Minister has had a full schedule on the first day of her visit to Japan, starting with breakfast with the Australia Japan Diet parliamentary friendship group.

Eighteen Japanese politicians from the government and opposition attended, including the country's economic and trade minister, Masayuki Naoshima.

Go forage for it yourself, I have provided freeloader with enough sources and content to supply a milking goat to an Indian neighborhood for a year.

Fact,,,Gillard is the most undeserving unloved Australian PM we have ever had....and if you would take your boatie blinkers off for a day...you may realise we are far from moving forward.

Her numbers up... so you had better give your extended family a rubber dingy, hopefully this one will just bounce back off the rocks, this and actually float next time.

Absolutely atrocious... almost as sickening as the opportunistic way she let them out of their detention centre hovels for a day to attend their relatives funerals...to try and illuminate herself, and divert our attention away from how negligent she's been with her inhumane refugee policy. A lack there of.

Remember, it was labor who introduced mandatory detention of asylum seekers afterall, not Liberal.

Liberal for freedom ...Labor for detainment, imprisonment, communism and social decline.

Get it through your head.... two Labor pissant PMs in less than 3 years... -vrs- 1 Liberal PM in 12... I think this speaks for itself.

She'd have to immigrate all of India in order to win the next election...pity we have nowhere to put the onces she's piling into our country as we speak.

Why is there so much racial tension ...especially in the more disadvantaged areas?

Because Australians begrudge competing with immigrants for a minimal wage this and are not only enduring housing shortages but remain dreadfully under employed.

Ask yourself...whats Australia's current youth unemployment rate, and when was it last this high?

Thank god for Xbox,,,or else they might be out breaking into our cars.

Get the message... we are full.

I don’t think the Emperor laughs much behind anyone’s back. You PHAIL.

Fucking hell, Australia is a valued trading partner, of course our PM will be treated with utmost respect. What a phucking moron you are IQ. As Lefty showed, you are a special kind of stupid, aren’t you? Even stupid people shun you and call you dummkopf, don’t they.

You don’t have a B Eng, you have a B STUpid.

Dullard holds no respect from anyone. It has been one of her constant criticisms. She's just not PM material.
Japan was just going through the motions. They are a polite society whereas Dullard is a joke looking for a punchline

Yes, i'm sure Gillard received a 'glowing' reception in Japan...they are desperate and need all the hair transplants they can get...thats why she's there with her manbag hairdresser...he's probably styling their wigs.

No...shes there kicking a dog whilst it's down... prime time to break a deal or two.

Now despite housing shortages reaching crisis point in WA
The "critical shortage" argument never gets old. However, from Feb 2010 to Feb 2011 Perth dwelling values (in general, not in every single area) are down 4.1% and are down 1.1% over the three months to February. Why would values fall in the face of a critical shortage? Supply and demand not working?

I don't have the Perth dwelling stock figures on hand but on a national basis, there is roughly 50% more stock on the market now than the same time last year. So despite the crippling shortage across the nation as well as in WA, 50% more dwellings have simply appeared for sale as if by magic, as the "normal" booming capital gains have shrunk to a trickle.

In general, there is no shortage of available dwellings - merely a shortage of affordable dwellings created by a glut of speculators who are generously supported by the tax system.

Which makes the title of this thread a bit strange seeing as it's hard to think of a more glaringly obvious example of market manipulation than Australia's class of negatively-geared property investors.

Logic isn’t exactly IQ’s strongpoint, hard to think what is come to that. Copious amounts of BS isn’t really a positive.

With all the booming value of his (imaginary) property portfolio and his shrinking negative gearing things were set for him to buy a third property. He hasn’t and I doubt he really owns anything much.

One more time for the tardy...

Ask yourself...whats Australia's current youth unemployment rate, and when was it last this high?

Thank god for Xbox,,,or else they might be out breaking into our cars.

Get the message... we are full.

Hence we have no place to put them and keep them locked in squalled detention centers.

Gawd...how think can you get.

Did you know that the Labor state governments passed a return-to-sender MOI (on the sly) which at any time gives them the capacity to ship them all out of our country?

These refugees are.."were" political incentives for socialist alliances and orgs around the world... thats all.

They had to allude to their being "thoughtful" this and get the green votes in order to win the election.

Wheres amnesty?

Noone cares, least not Gillard.

Get the message.

All they care about is their UN, NWO 12% tax cut.

Thats all Gillard was installed for.

Get it already....
