What do you mean, exactly, by “the politics of jealousy”

Signed,
Suspicious
It was a comment from Little Johnny Howard many years ago against what the Hansonites were moaning about. They are jealous of other people getting something they cannot, despite them not needing the benefit whereas the recipients do...
So exactly what do you think Aboriginal people should get, that others can’t?

Help that is specifically tailored to help them overcome the problems they face, "Nicole". Education in their own language, as well as English, could be a good start. How about health care in remote communities? Housing in remote communities? These are small things, compared to what most non-Indigenous people can get.

I think we do too much for our Aboriginal chums... we have made them helpless..

I am a " god helps those who help themselves" type of thinker....

and I dont see us asking too much from them to be honest,.,,,,,

when they stop turning back the clock to give them an excuse.... who knows maybe all the efforts put in by previous govts will pay off..

lets worry about TOMORROW...history cannot be undone even with 10 sorry speeches.....it doesnt change a thing....we can only change TOMORROW...

if all the money spent on Aboriginal Affairs was divided up and shared between each and every aboriginal.... nothing would have changed.....they would still be whingeing and living in the past....

they frustrate me..... I find it a huge turn off..

just one small thing... again I could be the only person whos noticed it..

but there is much advertising towards aboriginals regarding smoking.....the ad comes on over and over in prime time TV....then we may get the odd one. all whitish persons... I presume directed at the rest of us who are not aboriginal...

why make it so obvious that we are different on the outside?.......even though the end result usually death is the same outcome

why do we need two adverts???...are we not all Australians fighting the same disease...???????

I saw a headline somewhere online recently that asked the question - "Will Australia ever have its first Black Prime Minister?" They meant Black Aboriginals, I gather. Anybody else see that?
Nope. However, it might not be a bad idea. I think first though, we need more Indigenous Australian MPs - from all parties.

Something certainly needs to be done but tossing more money at them is not the answer. The notion that we are supposedly 'jealous' of them gave me a good laugh though

No, you're not a Racist, are you, Neferti? So, it's all about the colour of a person's skin for you, is it? Bet you must be really pissed off at fair-skinned, fair-haired Indigenous Australians...

Just listen to the PHONies, Andrew Bolt, etc., Black Orchid and you'll detect the jealousy in their voiced when they are talking about Indigenous Australians and their benefits...

It was THE HEADLINE OF AN ARTICLE that mentioned the word BLACK, not me. When you read what I said, you would know that!
