It would be highly unlikely that CCTV footage still exists and even if it did - it would be difficult to pick Thomson out of the numerous punters coming and going. This is what Thomson was counting on. Someone from the government would have paid them a visit anyway and destroyed this evidence a long time ago.

I listened to Thomson live for a while until it became intolerable. To think that someone who had fraudulently misused union funds can lie under parliamentary privilege and then be absolved of all crimes is abhorrent. Even if there had been a fragment of truth in his excuses - it's an indication that unions have cut their own throats. They could have an essential role in our society if we could trust them, but now we know they aren't held accountable for their embezzlement and fraud and don't give a damn about the workers who prop up their extravagant lifestyle.

Thomson and those involved in this pathetic saga should be jailed not only for misleading the people, but misappropriation of trust funds.

Reith got away with similar - although he was forced to pay back the money he allowed his son to embezzle - but the precedent was set back then. Would Reith have paid it back if he hadn't been caught?

Will Thomson and the rest of the union thieves be forced to pay back any of this money?

Theft by politicians and union representatives should be punishable by instant dismissal.
