US election result - why?

Post by Rorschach » Fri Nov 09, 2012 10:23 am

The questions are... why was Obama re-elected and why was Romney rejected? Or is the issue much more complicated?

Is American society split down the middle? If so what are the divides?
Is this a "black" thing?
What changes in American society have been reflected in this result?
Is there a gerrymander in the US?
Where is America headed?

Romney is an unknown quantity, although I suppose the same could have been said about Obama when he was first elected. IQ was probably right when he said if Romney hadn't been a Mormon, he might have won.

America is headed down the path of another war with us being dragged into it. The troop numbers in Darwin are increasing very quickly, although the US want the numbers quadrupled. Gillard is holding off until the next election before a further massive increase is announced.

It would make no difference in this respect whether Obama or Romney were President as the orders come from a higher power.

This mindset will ensure that China will eventually purchase minerals from other nations. With manufacturing having almost disappeared and the onslaught of asylum seekers - we'll eventually become a dirt poor third world country.
DAVID MARK: The former director of National Intelligence in the United States says the increasing US military presence in Australia will ensure China doesn't gain a military advantage in the region.

Admiral Dennis Blair happily concedes that this will be the Asian Century.

He argues Australia's security relationship with the US is more important than our economic relationship with China.

Looking at these two maps you could easily make the case that nothing has changed at all.

Interesting... but we all know many things have changed since then.
Or are you saying it's all about the "blacks".

Just noticing that, unlike Oz where the Lefties are Red and the Righties are Blue .... it is opposite in the US.

Why would the so-called "slave States" have anything to do with the Republicans, these days? Wasn't slavery abolished by Lincoln in the 1860's?

The Red State/Blue State designation only dates back to the 1990's. Yes, slavery is long gone but the mentality that gave rise to it is alive and well.
