Libs’ backflip on Gonski

Post by Jovial_Monk » Sat Aug 03, 2013 12:16 pm

With Vic about to sign up to Gonski Abbott and Whiny Piny have done a backflip.

I don’t trust them! There is an unspoken codicil to every LNP promise: until Costello hands down his “Audit” report when austerity will be implemented and some tens of thousands of Public Servants and several thousand teachers will be fired.

But it shows their desperation and complete lack of policy development!

Don't know what you said Monk , but I'm guessing it's some vacuous gloating.
bereft of facts.

here are some facts then...
Abbott said from the start there would have to be a large state concensus before they agreed to it. IE the majority of states would have to sign up to Gonski.
I'm guessing he's just being a man of his word.

The Coalition has given up its fight against Labor’s “Gonski” education reforms and is now trying to shift the education debate from schools funding to an argument about overbearing “commonwealth bureaucracy” on school systems.

The Coalition leader, Tony Abbott, had said he would scrap the Gonski funding model unless an “overwhelming majority” of states had signed on. Last week the Coalition shifted slightly, saying it would allow the new model to operate for one year, until 2015, while it negotiated a new system.

But, speaking at a school in Melbourne on Friday, Abbott revealed the Coalition was now backing down and would allow the new funding model to operate for four years. It would also match Labor’s spending promises in every respect in the interests of “certainty”.

“When it comes to schools funding Kevin Rudd and I are on a unity ticket,” Abbott said. “I am not on about the politics of this. I am on about certainty.”

Again—this promise would last only until Costello hands in his so–called Audit report.

However, Jewish schools win with Gonski, by their own admission, and understandably so.
You see, Jews generally take care of their own first.

http://www.jewishnews.net.au/jewish-sch ... nski/30489 <----- Note, this is a Jewish publication.

Monk, Gillard promised no school would be worse off, yet her own department figures (before she left) suggest otherwise.

Gonski is flawed on so many levels, I don't know where to begin.

The very fact that only Gonskis model was invited for consideration suggests a degree of bias in itself.

And that's just the government schools in QLD....there are many more government and non-government (and non-Jewish) schools nation wide who stand to lose with Gonski.

Do you have anything to add to this Monkski?

You mean to say that the Gillard Government’s "OWN" school funding figures are flawed?

Did you even bother reading this before shooting from the hip Monski?

Apparently not.
