What is your point? That you claim to remember when Australia had an inland sea?

That map shows a spot of water enveloping the peninsular I live on. The first major tsunami Australia experiences will wipe out thousands of kms of coastline, north and south of Sydney. A lot of the homes are built on sandbanks.
An inland sea would probably be welcome.
In Australia the promise of an inland sea is often said to have been one of the prime motives of inland exploration during the 1820s and 1830s. Although this theory was championed by the explorer Charles Sturt, it enjoyed little support among the other explorers, most of whom were more inclined to believe in the existence of a Great River which discharged into the ocean in the north-west corner of the continent.
Also in Australia the Eromanga Sea existed during the Cretaceous. It covered large swaths of the eastern half of the continent.

Africa gets off relatively unscathed. The east coast of America is gone. Northern Europe takes a surprising big hit. Nice chunk of China is gone ... wish the whole country would be swallowed up.

Yes we had an inland sea... Lake Eyre is the last vestige of it.

Again what is your point? That b/c Australia had an inland sea millions of years ago rising seas don't matter?

I'm not going to comment either way on global warming, but if Australia had an inland sea at one time, why should we be surprised at nature reclaiming some land - even if takes 100 million years to complete its cycle.
We don't know what surprises the climate will hold for us, but if we build our homes on dried out old swamps and river beds along the coast - we should be prepared for some changes to the sea level.
Pollution, contamination and litter are the bigger problems we should be dealing with. They are within our control.

Personally I think we should pipe water north and south and flood the whole area again.
Add some desal plants, then we'll see some real climate change and change the face of Australia forever.
