Morrison government bans Milo Yiannopoulos from entering Australia

Post by Nicole » Fri Mar 08, 2019 5:58 pm

From the SMH:
The Morrison government has banned right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos from entering Australia in a fresh crackdown likely to infuriate his conservative supporters but please critics who believe he is anti-Semitic.

The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age can reveal the controversial speaker was told this week his visa application had been rejected and he cannot enter Australia.

<snip>

A letter sent to Yiannopoulos by immigration officials foreshadowed this week's final decision.

The letter noted Australia had the power to block someone from entering the country if there was a risk that person would "incite discord in the Australian community or in a segment of that community".

The letter was released by one of Yiannopoulos' strongest supporters, Sky News host Andrew Bolt, earlier this month.
https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal ... 5124z.html. There has been another conservative speaker from the UK, whose name means nothing to me, who has been declined also. I know nothing about him, but I do know a fair bit about Milo Yiannopoulos. I follow him closely.

Whilst I find Yiannopoulos can be abrasive, obnoxious and purely torrid at times, I have seen or heard nothing - NOTHING - that incites hate or whatever else these government cretins claim. I've read his book, Dangerous, I follow him on facebook, and I keep up with the news. This is nothing short of a police state move, and it's happening under a conservative government. The fuckers are scared of him, because he is an exceptionally good debater.

Those that know me, know I am anti immigration from non-Western countries. But I feel more strongly about this, than I do even immigration. If we don't have freedom of speech, we're no longer a democracy.

The Tories are running scared and have decided to throw Milo Yiannopoulos to the wolves. Oh, poor, poor, ScoMo. I am starting to feel sorry for the Muppet King as he blunders from pillar to post, with no clear idea of what he is meant to be doing. As for Yiannopoulos, good riddance. I know the PHONies will be glad he isn't coming back to put their star parachuted candidate on the spot. again. ;)

Pretty pathetic show considering Hizb ut-tahrir 'imams' are allowed in to preach their hate regularly.

Yep. I saw it compared on the news with some radical imam who was allowed in last year.

Fucking pathetic. I’m not voting this election. I’m done.

Actually, I saw Pauline Hansen vermently arguing against the governments decision on sky news.

Wrong again, Brian.

Evidence, please, "Nicole". Not that I doubt it, I just want to see it myself. Could it again be Pauline's left hand not knowing what the right is stroking, hey? :roll:

Why do I need to apologise, "Nicole"? I haven't said anything offensive, just wondered at the veracity of your claim, that is all. You've now proved it, with a link. Good. Another case of Pauline not knowing what her left is doing while her right is stroking something else. Typical of Hanson not to understand what allowing Yiannopoulos in would mean for her star or rather Latham's star parachuted Muslim candidate... :roll:
