No idea about the use of taxi ranks but I have read about Uber giving bonus payments to their drivers. Bonuses between $140 and $14,000 depending on the miles travelled.
Uber drivers have been told they will be paid "driver appreciation rewards" of up to $14,000 next week in a bid to encourage them to buy shares in the global ride-share company when it floats on the US sharemarket and discourage them from driving for competitors.

Tens of millions of dollars worth of bonus payments will be distributed by Uber to about 5000 Australian drivers.

The Queensland cabbies are suing the Queensland Labor Government for billions, apparently.

last I read UBER were in a lot of debt.....

I dont know what to believe anymore.... I am on the Taxi owners side on this one...

if I had paid a lot of money for a cab licence I would be livid about this.....it isnt right imo..

even to drive a cab you had to have to do a course and pass... now UBER make a mockery of all that....

I know someone who has his own cab here in act....so I am on their side in this....

its not a level playing field at all.

Uber is a great service. I choose Uber over taxi everyday.
