Seriously people this never was a joke and it wasn't the least bit funny. It was just a very stupid thoughtless prank and actions have consequences and now this poor woman is dead.

THREE days after being duped by Australian radio presenters during a royal phone prank, a London nurse has been found dead after an apparent suicide.

Jacintha Saldanha, 46, a mother of two, was unable to be revived after being found unconscious at a nurses' accommodation block near London's exclusive King Edward VII Hospital at 9.35am (local time) on Friday.

Look, the radio hosts who pranked the nurse were not to know she would top herself, furthermore, we do not know the circumstance behind why she was found deceased in her apartment.

Sadly, I think you will find the nurse (if it was in fact suicide) was mentally unstable to begin with for her to have killed herself over something like this, though blaming the radio hosts is to my way of thinking, a little over the top, they probably feel bad enough as it is.
I mean who would ever have imagined something like this could come of it?

Bare in mind what time of year it is, this and how suicide rates sky-rocket due to it being the festive season.

It's awful, she had kids apparently, though to blame the radio hosts who prank called for her death is a little extreme I think.

Hospital worker Jacintha Saldanha’s death is, as any suicide, extremely sad. But if she was willing to kill herself and leave a husband and two children behind to grieve, there had to be more going on than just embarrassment or shame over falling for a stupid hoax.

There’s no way the two DJs, Mel Greig and Michael Christian could possibly have expected that their prank call would push a woman to commit suicide, and there’s no reason they should have expected it or should be blamed now. The two apologized for the prank before this latest development, saying they didn’t expect it to work and that it was “meant in fun.”

Look Rorschach, try to keep it in perspective, unless you felt this way about the hoax before learning of the nurses death, then there is really no logical rational for you to be out for blood now, given noone, not even the radio hosts could have possibly seen something like this coming when they made that call.

They are entertainers, they entertain people for a living, this and could not have possibly seen something like this coming, nor could they have prevented this tragic death because if not their call, something else would have tipped her over the edge if she was already quite unstable.

Clearly there was much more going on in the nurses life given no person in their right mind would leave a husband and 2 kids behind to grieve for Xmas over a silly hoax phone call.

It's a very sad outcome indeed and no-one's fault really but we don't know what flack the poor woman received over in the UK and the real question should be ..

Do reality tv shows, shock jock radio shows, paparazzi etc go too far in invading peoples' privacy for what they think will be a quick laugh?

Personally, I think these stunts are in bad taste and should be outlawed. Chasers was cringeworthy, Diana was killed ... and so it goes on. Just because you are a public figure does not mean that you are not entitled to a little privacy

The day we lose our sense of humour this and take life as seriously as this, and ourselves too for that matter will be a very dull and sad day indeed.

Yes, one does have to expect a degree of intrusion and public interest when assuming high-profile or celebrity status, And they get paid very dearly for their trouble.
It comes with the territory.

Our PM Gillard is not an entertainer, so there's no real comparison there, though I wonder if we would ever hear about someone killing themselves over her youtube announcement in the unlikely event someone actually took Gillards stab at humour/publicity re- end of the world seriously?

I agree, the radio hosts overstepped the boundaries when it came to intruding on the royals recent stay in hospital, and they would have known this, this and probably thought they wouldn't even get put through, but this is just what shock-jocks do, it's expected of them to (((SHOCK))) though to blame them for this nurses suicide is just outrageous, because sane balanced people just don't top themselves over a prank call.

And to come down on all ((SHOCK JOCKS)) , entertainers etc because of this incident is taking things a little too far too me thinks.

As for Diana, she enjoyed the thrill of the chase, enjoyed being the centre of attention and being fawned upon by doting admirers and the the paparazzi, this is why she made it a point to tip the media off whenever she went somewhere this and made it her business to be photographed doing things she knew fine well would make headlines.

She loved the press and the press loved her, was a love hate relationship towards the end, but that didn't stop her positioning herself centre stage.

Imagine if you had a sense of duty and loyalty. How humiliating. Imagine if you came from a culture where what you did was considered all that and more and you had disgraced and shamed your family. Imagine all the permutations of those aspects, imagine if you took it all to heart and felt not only loss of face but you were dying of shame.

Sorry, but I think irrespective of 'culture' to have commit suicide over a prank call and leave a husband and two little kids behind is a tad unstable, but that's just my opinion, OK.

Re- the sense of duty/loyalty in a professional context....look, I have a nursing background this and can assure you there are worse things that regularly occur on the floor than receiving a prank call...royalty or not.
This is not something that would drive a sane/balanced person to suicide.

It's an absolute tragedy when any person takes their own life, but to blame strangers on the other side of the world, (aka the prank caller DJ's) is a little bit tragic also, don't you think?

Lets go one step further and blame Telstra for having provided the DJ's with a phone line, why stop there?

I think it is sad people cannot understand or even try to understand what she must have been going through.
I also find in amazing some people have after all these years still no understanding of people from other cultures.
What to you and me might seem strange is very normal to them.
Things you and I might not do or consider is very normal to them.
