The hospital would have known they had an 'unwell' member of staff on deck, which begs the question, what was their duty of care to both their unwell staff and those entrusted with her care?

Exactly how would they know? The previous episodes happened in India and were kept quiet by the family. Her brother said no-one knew

They took her off the nursing floor and put her on the phones. It wasn't a private Royal switchboard it was a hospital switchboard for God's sake. Why is it not appropriate she be given work answering a phone?

Hence nurse Jacintha was working double shifts and long weeks...this and attending to duties she was not qualified to be doing to begin with.
